Rick Weeds
Rick Weeds has lived the blues – and now he plays it like no other. Combine the electric sounds of Muddy Waters and Eric Clapton, with the acoustic sounds of Big Bill Broonzy and Neil Young, and you got Rick. The blues comes from hard living and dying - from people who put their trials and tribulations to music. And Rick has done exactly that.
Weeds was almost killed in a boating accident in the north woods of Wisconsin in 2000. He was fishing with his wife Liz and his son Ryne when a powerboat came out of nowhere and crashed into his. Rick shoved Liz and Ryne out of harms way before being tossed in the water suffering a broken spine and a crushed right arm. Rick spent 35 days in intensive care followed by numerous surgeries to rebuild his right arm, and a spinal fusion for his broken spine. After a year in therapy, Rick was able to turn to his first love: the guitar.
“The day he picked up the guitar, he was born again,” said Liz with tears in her eyes. “Music was his life, and he was able to live again.” Here breeds his restless soul envisioned with heart and passion, pursuing the craft which makes him what he is today.
